Jim Lange, host of the television show, ‘The Dating Game,’ died at age 81.
The popular host died on Tuesday morning after suffering a heart attack.
Lange was most widely known for his role on ABC’s The Dating Game. The Dating Game was a show created by Chuck Barris, where a woman could pick from three singles before dating. According to TMZ, Lange was a huge presence on the show. Lange was host to many celebrity guests including Michael Jackson, Steve Martin, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Actress Farrah Fawcett even appeared on Lange’s show.
In addition to hosting the popular dating show, Lange also hosted the game shows Hollywood Connection, $100,000 Name That Tune, and The New Newlywed Game.
According to the Associated Press, "As much as he's known for his television work, his real love was radio. He loved doing local radio, especially before it was computerized."
Lange worked as a disc jockey in Los Angeles, and after 2005, enjoyed spinning classics on the air waves.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, a sister, five children, two stepchildren, and four grandchildren.
