In this current state of social media addicted living, adolescents are obsessive compulsive with their music choices and celebrity crushes and following their every move on the internet. Could the world even imagine what it would be like to scroll down our Instagram feed and see John Lennon’s selfie, bored on the way to a gig? The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon may be a little late on coverage, but their celebration of The 50th anniversary of The Beatles performing on The Ed Sullivan Show but it was well worth the wait.

The Beatles are known for being the most influential band in the world and having had progressive ideas and tendencies. Jimmy stated that he had some “never before seen footage” from The Ed Sullivan Show, displaying how truly progressive and ahead of their time the band really was.

The screen then shows The Beatles after their first performance of “I Want to Hold Your Hand”—which was really four comedians, including Jimmy and Fred Armisen in black and white, sporting famous Beatles bowl cuts as reported in Spin.com

Fallon and Armisen give us a small dose of how The Beatles would market themselves and speak to the public—through dropping their Facebook name and telling fans to make a 6-second vine as to who their favorite Beatle is and why, according to Rolling Stone

"You can follow us on Twitter at @TheRealBeatlesUK," said Fallon, pretending to be John Lennon.

They continue to discuss their “throwback Thursdays” on Instagram and even take a selfie in front of the shrieking and overwhelmed crowd of fans—mostly women.

The audience was told though, to ignore Ringo Starr’s, (Armisen,) breakfast picture of eggs benedict, alluding to the ever so famous trend of posting your food on social media.

This quick skit gave us some comic relief and insight to what the well-loved Beatles would’ve been like, had they experienced the social media era.
