Jimmy Fallon went out on top on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon as the show set a new record high in the ratings on Friday night.
Following 30 minutes after the Sochi Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony and airing at midnight, Late Night managed to set a new record among metered-market households, reports Deadline. The show snagged a 4.8 rating and 12 share for Friday night's episode, which featured Andy Samberg and the Muppets.
Thos numbers beat out Thursday night's episode, which had set a record of 4.6 following on the heels of Leno's passing of the torch. Fallon's farewell episode managed to be the show's best ratings since the show premiered almost five years ago.
Fallon's episode even topped Jay Leno's Tonight Show farewell, which is impressive given that Fallon will be returning in a week to late night television. Leno's farewell episode still did really well in the ratings, pulling in a 3.8 in the ratings, though he did not have the benefit of the Opening Ceremony.
