Joel McHale has been chosen by the White House Correspondent's Association to host the annual Correspondent's Dinner.
The announcement was made Friday by the WHCA that McHale would be the entertainer at this year's dinner, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In the announcement, Steven Thomma, president of the WHCA, said of McHale, "we're thrilled that Joel will headline the dinner when we celebrate our centennial. He's sharp, funny, and just the type of comic who can navigate the unique challenge of our dinner, making fun of Democrats, Republican, and especially the news media. Washington can use a little good-natured ribbing."
McHale should have a warm welcome, as the WHCA has a history of choosing his type of comedian to host their annual dinner. Past hosts include Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and even Jay Leno.
According to Celebuzz, it has not yet been revealed who is scheduled to attend, although it is expected that the President and the First Lady, as well as senior officials and member of the press corps will attend, as they have in the past.
The event is to be held May third in Washington, D.C.
