John Travolta opened up recently on the struggles of dealing with his son Jett's passing in 2009.
The actor sat down for an interview on stage at London's Theatre Royal Drury Lane, reports BBC News. He spoke about his son, who passed away five years ago from a seizure at the age of 16, while the family was vacationing in the Bahamas.
Travolta and Kelly Preston, Jett's mother, have since said that he had suffered previously from seizures and was autistic.
"The truth is, I didn't know if I was going to make it," he said during the interview. "Life was no longer interesting to me, so it took a lot to get me better." Travolta noted that Jett's death was "the worst thing that's ever happened in my life."
Us Weekly notes that for a long time after Jett passed away, Travolta said that he "didn't want to wake up."
He noted that one thing that helped him while he was grieving were Church of Scientology members who by his side. "They didn't take a day off."
The late James Gandolfini also helped Travolta, the actor said. He flew to where Travolta was after he heard the news and stayed by his side.
