Saturday at the Paramount Theater in Las Angeles actor Johnny Depp was rewarded with the first Distinguished Artisan Award for work in films such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland, and the classic Edward Scissorhands.
Celeb Buzz reports that the 50 year old received the award from his long standing make-up artist and Oscar nominee Joel Harlow. The star was rather humble for the bestowment, feeling honored yet “ridiculous” for the various roles he’s undertaken.
Depp commented, "This is a great honor, but glancing up at the screen I realize what a ridiculous thing I've done.” He added, “"I mean seriously, why do they still give me jobs? I've done a lot of things. I should probably apologize for a few, but I won't."
According to NYDailyNews, the Make-up and Hair Stylists Guild awards haven’t been held in 10 years. The laid back award show celebrates the artisan work of both film and television. It acts as a major reunion spot for the best in the business, to which Harlow affirms, “"It's our circle or little family's time to celebrate."
Other notable actors at the awards include Johnny Knoxville, Jane Lynch, and Ed Asner.
