Julia Roberts' half-sister, Nancy Motes, was found dead in Los Angeles on Sunday of an apparent drug overdose.

The 37-year-old's family released a statement this morning: "It is with deep sadness that the family of Nancy Motes... confirms that she was found dead in Los Angeles yesterday of an apparent drug overdose. There is no official report from the Coroner's office yet. The family is both shocked and devastated."

Nancy Motes was the younger half-sister of Julia and actor Eric Roberts. At the time of her death, E! Online reported that Motes was trying to break into the Hollywood scene with the rest of her family, working as a production assistant on Fox's hit show, Glee, as well as planning a May wedding to fiancé John Dilbeck.

The Daily Mail also reported on tensions between Roberts and her late half-sister, claiming that Motes was often teased about her weight by the Hollywood star. The aspiring actress had undergone a gastric bypass surgery almost two years ago in an attempt to shed the weight and break into Hollywood.
