Things have not been looking to good for the New York Knicks lately, and now one of their own is facing gun charges. Struggling point guard Raymond Felton turned himself in early Tuesday morning after pulling a gun on his estranged wife during a domestic dispute.
According to the New York Post, Felton’s wife, Ariane Raymondo-Felton, brought the Belgian-made FN Herstal pistol to a police station in the Upper West Side. Felton’s wife told authorities that she didn’t want the gun in her shared apartment with the starting point guard, notes CNN. She also told the police that Felton never threatened her with the weapon, but he held the gun during their dispute.
Raymondo-Felton, who is a student at Fordham University School of Law, recently filed for divorce on Feb. 18, ESPN reported.
New York has the strictest gun laws in the country, and Felton could face serious jail time. Felton was arraigned and charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and criminal possession of a firearm, and his bail was set to $25,000, reports ABC.
Felton and his lawyers have yet to comment on the matter. The Knicks organization also has not made any comments about the point guard’s arrest. The Knicks are set to play Thursday against the Miami Heat.
