In the March issue of Harper’s Bazaar, Lady Gaga opens up about some of the struggles she’s had to endure on her rise to fame.

Gaga discussed with Harper’s Bazaar her experience with depression and an eating disorder as she was able to be on the cover of the upcoming issue of the magazine.

“I am better with food. I don’t have an eating disorder anymore,” she said. “I’m so better at not letting people take advantage of me. Five years ago, when I spotted someone with a hidden agenda, I allowed them to stay around me. I didn’t want to believe it.”

Gaga may have released her fourth album, “ARTPOP” in November 2013; however, it didn’t stop her from becoming depressed towards the end of the year.

“I was exhausted fighting people off,” Gaga said explaining her feelings at that time. “I couldn’t even feel my own heartbeat. I was angry, cynical and had this deep sadness like an anchor dragging everywhere I go. I just didn’t feel like fighting more.”

Gaga then knew she had to do something about the way she was feeling. This hadn’t been the first time she’s suffered from depression.

On Jan. 1, she said she woke up and told herself that even though she felt like she didn’t want to fight she knew she was going to have to.

She encouraged herself saying, “Whatever is left in there, even just one light molecule, you will find it and make it multiply. You have to for you. You have to for your music. You have to for your fans and your family.”
