Lena Dunham, star of HBO’s hit series, Girls, has announced that the book she’s been working on since October 2012 will finally be released this year on October 7, 2014. Dunham is known for her witty, completely honest sense of humor and we’re hoping to see all that and more in Not That Kind of Girl.
Dunham is the main actress, writer and director of the show Girls, so she’s extremely talented and has a lot going on. Yesterday she posted the cover of this new book on her Instagram and Twitter with the caption, “It’s official. Coming 10/7/14.”
According to Contact Music she signed a deal for “more than $3.5 million” with Random House. The editor-in-chief and publisher of Random House, Susan Kamil, confirmed this deal at the time and said, “We’re thrilled to welcome Lena to Random House. Her skill on the page as a writer is remarkable-fresh, wise, so assured. She is that rare literary talent that will only grow from strength to strength and we look forward to helping her build a long career as an author.”
Entertainment Weekly reports that Dunham describes her book by saying, “If I can take what I’ve learned in this life and make one treacherous relationship or degrading job easier for you, perhaps even prevent you from becoming temporarily vegan, then every misstep of mine will have been worthwhile.” The book will consist of stories about different nights she’s had, terrible and wonderful, and all about her ambition, fashion choices and body image.
Random House has described the book as “in the tradition of Helen Gurley Brown, David Sedaris, and Nora Ephrom, offering frank and funny advice on everything from sex to eating to traveling to work.”
