After the magazine, Jezebel offered $10,000 for the unretouched photos of Lena Dunham’s cover of Vogue; the actress went ham on the magazine and let the world know how she felt about it.
In an interview with Grantland's Bill Simmons, Dunham said, “That was messed up. I think Jezebel is really smart and funny, I think it's just like once you've been attacked that way it's hard to enjoy. It's hard to enjoy once you feel like they've made such a monumental error in their approach to feminism.” She also continued saying that “it was the weird almost like political maneuvering that” she “had a lot of trouble respecting,” according to Reality TV World.
According to E Online , Editor Jessica Coen said that it wasn’t meant to shame the actress, that “Her body is real. She is real. And for as lovely as the Vogue pictures are, they're probably not terribly real.” Coen went on to say that Vogue takes the pictures of real women that are in the public and has state that they like how they look, as Dunham has said before, and alters them.
Jezebel posted the pictures, citing what Vogue had retouched.
Dunham shot the Vogue cover in February 2014. She has cited this as a child hood dream. She is the creator of the show Girls.
