Leonard Hirshan, a manager who worked with Clint Eastwood, among others, died on January 31 in Beverly Hills at age 86.
Eastwood's longtime lawyer Bruce M. Ramer told The Hollywood Reporter, "Lenny was a joy to work with. Smart, knowledgeable, trusted and committed. He was a superb agent, a truly good man and a real friend. Honor and integrity and loyalty were his by-words. His type are rare. He will be remembered and missed."
He was a manager to many of Hollywood’s elite, including Sophia Loren, Walter Matthau, Sammy David Jr., and Stu Rosenberg. Hirshan was an agent at William Morris for a number of years. He got his start in the WMA in 1951. According to Variety, he negotiated Elvis Presley’s first WMA contract. He remained with William Morris until 2004. He formed his own company, Leonard Hirshan Management, Inc. In 2012, Hirshan received the Seymour Heller Award for Lifetime Achievement in Management.
He is survived by two daughters, two granddaughters, and two former wives, Isobel Chanin and Susan Dey.
