Considering the lack of promotion Leonardo DiCaprio did when Titanic was released back into theaters in 3D in 2012, one might think that the actor isn’t happy about the film that turned him into an international superstar. But while chatting with CBS This Morning’s Gayle King, DiCaprio said that he’s proud of the movie and understands its role in his life.
“You know, it’s been such a long time, but it was such a huge part of my life,” DiCaprio told King, reports EW. “And people maybe think I have a reaction to that, to that film, but the truth is, I’m incredibly proud of it. And not only that, the movie has really made me be in control of my career.”
DiCaprio seems to have warmed up to Titanic lately, especially after he parodied it on Saturday Night Live with Jonah Hill. The Wolf of Wall Street actor was a little reluctant to do it, but even he had to admit it was a funny idea.
Elsewhere in the interview, King asked DiCaprio about marriage, notes E! News.
“The truth is, it's gonna happen when it's gonna happen,” DiCaprio, who has been linked to model Toni Garrn, told King after she said she wants to see him tie the knot. “I'm just gonna let it happen naturally. I really am. That's the only way to do it, I feel. And when it's right, it's gonna be right.”
While King things DiCaprio should focus on getting married, the interview did get serious when he talked about his dedication to saving the environment.
DiCaprio earned another Oscar nomination for The Wolf of Wall Street, in which he plays Jordan Belfort. He’s been nominated before, but has walked home empty handed. The movie, directed by Martin Scorsese, is also up for Best Picture.
