Lindsey Vonn had hoped to compete in Sochi, but an injury kept her from the slopes. Instead, she was in New York for a Fashion Week event, walking the catwalk, even on crutches.

Vonn took part in the Heart Truth Red Dress Collection show on Thursday, reports Today.com. She and other celebrities wore red dresses to benefit Go Red For Women, which raises awareness for the fight against women’s heart disease. She wore a Cynthia Rowley dress for the event.

“I’m excited and nervous — this is not my spiel,” Vonn told Today just before the show. “It’ll be interesting to see how fast I get down there. I’m a skier; I don’t normally walk the catwalk ... especially in crutches.”

Vonn walked using her crutches, but stood alone at the end of the catwalk, raising the crutches in the air. The audience applauded.

Fox News reports that Vonn was not the only celebrity at the event. Ireland Baldwin, Giada De Laurentiis, Colbie Caillat, AnnaSophia Robb and Nene Leakes also walked the catwalk in red dresses.

Baldwin is the daughter of Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger, but she’s made sure that the paparazzi doesn’t get under her skin. “I think It’s more when I’m around my parents; I get the occasional little disputes now and then [with the paparazzi],” she told Fox News. “They don’t bother me too badly.”

While Vonn will not be competing in Sochi, she is set to work as an analyst for NBC Sports during the Olympics and will be based in New York.
