Marvel Studios and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced in a joint press conference that Marvel's live action series for Netflix is set to film in New York City. The long-term filming, they announced, would create over 400 jobs for New Yorkers.
According to The Hollywood Reporter principal production on the series is set to begin in summer of 2014 in New York City, a suitable location for Marvel, many of whose comics take place in the city.
They will be shooting as many as 60 episodes of the series, which will focus on second-tier Marvel comics characters such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.
MTV reports that the series will end with a "Defenders" team up, but not much else is known about the series at this point, save for the involvement of Cabin in the Woods director Drew Godard and Twilight writer Melissa Rosenberg.
The episodes will be an hour-long and are set to premiere in Fall 2015, led by the Daredevil series, with Godard behind the helm.
