Paul Maholm has signed a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers worth $1.5 million. The left-hander is coming from the Atlanta Braves where he went 10-11 in 153 innings last season.
The free-agent was at the Dodgers’ spring training camp in Glendale, Arizona to take a physical exam early Saturday. According to cbssports Maholm suffered from wrist and elbow problems that caused him to miss time last season.
According to espn the Dodgers were looking to add a veteran fifth member to their starting rotation that includes Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, Hyun-Jin Ryu and Dan Haren.
Maholm, 31, was selected as a first-round draft pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2003 and made his major league debut two years later. He played for the Chicago Cubs for one season before being traded to Atlanta.
Maholm is 76-95 with a 4.28 ERA in his nine major league seasons.
