During the Hollywood awards season, the same actors show up at the same events, so naturally Jared Leto and Lupita Nyong’o are going to see a lot of each other. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re dating. Nyong’o was on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today and had some fun with those rumors.
“You're actually in tabloids, which mean you've really made it. Because there are rumors that you and Jared Leto are together,” DeGeneres told the 30-year-old, who had never made a movie before 12 Years A Slave.
“Ah, but I thought Miley Cyrus broke us up,” Nyong’o quickly replied. She was referring to a rumor this week that the Dallas Buyers Club star is now “hooking up” with Cyrus.
“It's crazy, cause when I read these rumors, they're so detailed that even I start to question whether they're true or not,” Nyong’o noted, reports The Daily News. “I know I've believed them in the past and now I guess I can't believe anything.”
Of course, DeGeneres can relate. Tabloids said that she and Portia De Rossi were on the outs, but the talkshow host said those rumors aren’t true.
Nyong’o and Leto have won an armful of awards for their supporting performances in 12 Years A Slave and Dallas Buyers Club, respectively. Both are also up for Oscars and DeGeneres is hosting the ceremony.
