Modern Family producers are pushing for a Cate Blanchett appearance while the show is being filmed in Australia.

WENN reports that executive producer, Steven Levitan, met the Blue Jasmine star on a flight to Sydney, Blanchett's home town.

Levito has confirmed that they are trying to find time in Blanchett's schedule in order for her to appear on the show.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Modern Family is currently in Australia filming their holiday episode. They will be shooting there for the next two weeks.

This marks the first time that the series was shot outside of the United States. Levitan will also serve as director for the episode.

He spoke to Australia's Daily Telegraph about wanting to work with Blanchett.

"We've got some crazy people to do things for us in the past just by asking, but we thought maybe a quick cameo of Cate ... we're big fans of hers," Levitan said.

Matthew Broderick, Danny Trejo, and James Marsden are a few names who have mad appearances on the show.
