Nashville Predators’ general manager, David Poile, was sent to the hospital Thursday after getting struck by a puck. During the team’s morning skate in Minnesota a puck bounced and hit Poile above the eye. He was taken to a local St. Paul hospital where he was kept overnight.

According to AssociatedPress head coach, Barry Trotz, said, “It was a hard, rocket pass that skipped and hit him pretty flush, so we hope everything is fine there.”

The team went on to lose 3-2 in overtime against the Wild. Poile is also the general manager for the U.S. Olympic hockey team and was scheduled to leave for Sochi this weekend.

Health problems struck another member of the organization on Thursday. Predators’ television announcer, Pete Weber, was rushed to the hospital for emergency heart surgery.

Weber is said to be recovering and resting comfortably. According to TheTennessean Weber said, ““I thank everyone for their well wishes. I’ve been overwhelmed by them.”

Nashville’s next game is Saturday at home against the Anaheim Ducks.
