Baseball legend, Nolan Ryan, has come back to Houston to reunite with the Astros as an executive advisor. He left his previous position of chief executive officer of the Texas Rangers back in October.
Ryan, 67, will act as assistant to owner Jim Crane, general manager Jeff Luhnow, and president of business operations Reid Ryan. Reid Ryan is Nolan’s oldest son. Ryan was with the Astros from 2004-08 as a special assistant to the general manager.
Ryan is excited to take on his new role. According to dallasnews Ryan said, “I’m very excited to be back with the Astros. I’m happy to assist Jim, Jeff and Reid in any way I can.”
Ryan is leaving a very solid Rangers team that has won 90 games or more in the past four seasons and reached the playoffs three of those seasons. On the other hand, the Astros have lost more than 100 games in the last three seasons.
According to cbssports Ryan left the Rangers due to issues in the front office.
