The Oakland A's avoided arbitration with outfielder Josh Reddick by signing him to a one-year contract worth $2.7 million.

According to NBC Sports, the A's wanted to pay Reddick $2 million while Reddick filed for $3.25 million.

As a result of this signing, the A's have avoided arbitration hearings for the ninth consecutive year, according to MLB. This was Reddick's first year of arbitration eligibility.

Reddick dealt with a right wrist injury in 2013 and only played 114 games, and his numbers took a fall from his breakout 2012 season, where he hit 32 home runs in 156 games before hitting just 12 the following year.

Reddick reported to the A's spring training camp four days before the position players are required to report.

The A's are coming off another season that involved them winning the American League West and being eliminated in the American League Division Series by the Detroit Tigers in five games. They will look to win their third consecutive AL West title as Reddick hopes to return to his 2012 form.
