Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer has landed the starring role in Fox's pilot for Red Band Society.
Red Band Society is about several teenagers who become unlikely friends while in the children's wing of a hospital, reports TheWrap. So far only a pilot and some extra scripts have been ordered.
Spencer will star as a pediatrics nurse that is serious about her job and doesn't put up with any crap from anyone in the hospital. She also buries her own struggles as she believes whatever she is going through doesn't compare to the problems of the children in the wing.
According to HitFix, the show is set to be an hour-long and a mixture of comedy and drama. Director Steven Spielberg is on board as an executive producer, alongside Sergio Aguero, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey.
Spencer had been previously cast to star in a reboot of Murder, She Wrote with NBC, but the show was eventually cancelled. She won an Oscar for her role in the film The Help.
