Paula Deen is continuing her attempt at a comeback and she’s speakingly candidly about her racial scandal in the new issue of People. The former Food Network star said she won’t give up and will continue to pick up the pieces from her empire nearly crashing down.

She admitted she might have foreshadowed what was to come in her life, saying she had dreams even before the scandal happened that she “lost everything” she worked for in life.

"I'm fighting to get my name back," she told People. "I used to have dreams that I lost everything. And when it finally happens, you think, 'I'm still alive.' "

The 67-year-old celebrity chef gave an inside look into her life when it felt her walls were caving in on her, saying it was difficult to get up each morning.

"When I woke up each morning, it was like my world was crashing down again," she said.

Things are definitely looking up, though, as she’s getting a fresh start with her new company, Paula Deen Ventures. The company got a $75 million investment recently, putting her back on the road to success despite being dropped by many distributors.

Last year, Deen admitted in a deposition she used the “N-word.”
