With celebrities joining forces to protect their children from the paparazzi, publications like People and Just Jared have decided to make a change and to stop publishing celebrity children’s photos.

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepherd began the campaign while taking to Twitter last month.

Jess Cagle, Editorial Director at People, posted an Editor’s Letter about the new change. In the letter he mentions a number of celebrities that brought the change to his attention, including Jennifer Garner, Halle Berry, as well as Bell and Shepherd.

Cagle credits the celebrities for making “the media more sensitive to the brutal tactics some freelance photographers use to get even the most innocent-looking shots of celebs’ kids at play.”

According to the letter Cagle, who took over as Editorial Director in January, promised that when he did take over, People would no longer publish celeb’s kid’s photographs against their parent’s permission. However, they would still continue to print the warranted photographs that are taken with the celebrity parents’ permission, such as the exclusive baby pictures.

According to Jezebel, People is not the only publication that making the change. Just Jared is now also participating in the fight against kids’ photos.

Feb. 25, Editor-in-Chief of Just Jared, Jared Eng. posted the #NoKidsPolicy news on the website.

He too in his announcement mentioned the names of the active celebrities fighting this stance. Eng also dropped the names of other stars he’s had conversations with who prompted this change, including Blake Lively and Jaime King.

In short, Eng wrote that what it meant for the readers of Just Jared. Simply, that the only celebrity children photographs that will be posted to the website will include consensual photos like red carpet events, sports games, concert venues, and shared social media photos.
