Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning won his fifth NFL MVP award after he led his team to the highest scoring offense in NFL history with 606 points. Manning also led the Broncos to a 13-3 record and a No. 1 seed in the AFC.
According to USAToday, Manning broke NFL records across the book. He threw 55 touchdown passes with only 10 interceptions. He also broke the single-season passing yards record with 5,477 yards.
Manning received 49 out of 50 votes from panelists. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady received the stray vote from former NFL quarterback and NFL XM Radio host Jim Miller, according to Yahoo! Sports. Brady remains the only player in NFL history to win the MVP unanimously. He received all 50 votes in 2010.
The Broncos are set to face the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl with many fans claiming Manning to be the greatest quarterback of all time.
Manning will look to further cement his legacy and hush his critics who point to his 11-11 playoff record by winning a second Super Bowl ring.
