The Philadelphia have been busy trying to keep their key players from a year ago in Philadelphia for many more years to come.
The Eagles announced that they have re-signed wide receiver Riley Cooper and center Jason Kelce, keeping them in an Eagles uniform for several more years Thursday. The announcement comes one day after the team signed left tackle Jason Peters to a long-term contract extension.
Cooper's contract is for five years and is worth $25 million with $10 million of that being guaranteed and Kelce's deal is for six years worth $37.5 million with $13 million guaranteed, USA Today reports.
Both players were very important to the success the Eagle's had in the 2013 season. Kelce started every game at center and was a key component of the offense's success in 2013. Cooper was one of Eagles quarterback Nick Foles' primary targets in 2013. He caught a total of 47 passes for 835 yards with eight touchdowns, according to ESPN.
Cooper made news during the 2013 offseason when a video of him using racial slurs was found and became viral on the internet. Because of his actions he was fined by the Eagles and had to apologize to his teammates for his actions, ESPN reports.
Cooper made up for his actions to his team by performing well on the field and stepping up when they needed him the most after they lost starting wide receiver Jeremy Maclin for the year after suffering a torn ACL during training camp in 2013.
The recent signings the Eagles have made shows that they are gearing up for another playoff run in 2014.
