Philip Seymour Hoffman died at the age of 46 in his New York apartment over the weekend. Hollywood and fans across the world are reacting to the news but the attention was also focused on Hoffman's latest project, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2.
Lionsgate, the studio behind The Hunger Games franchise has announced that Hoffman only had seven more days left on set for his work on the second part of Mockingjay, Variety reported.
The film was currently being shot on location, both films are being shot simultaneously.
Lionsgate released a statement following the death of Hoffman, expressing their sadness and condolences. “Philip Seymour Hoffman was a singular talent and one of the most gifted actors of our generation. We’re very fortunate that he graced our ‘Hunger Games’ family. Losing him in his prime is a tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Philip’s family.”
The release date for both films will not be impacted by the passing of Hoffman. Mockingjay Part 1 will be released on Nov. 21, 2014 and the final film will be released on Nov. 20, 2015, Entertainment Weekly reported.
Sam Claflin, who worked with Hoffman on Catching Fire and Mockingjay took to his Twitter account to express his emotions following the passing of his co-star.
