A private funeral will be held in New York for family and close friends of Philip Seymour Hoffman after he was found in his West Village apartment on Sunday.

The mother of Hoffman’s three children, Mimi O’Donnell, told authorities that the actor had been under the influence when she last saw him on Saturday, reported E News .

In a statement, Hoffman’s rep said, "Plans are also underway for a memorial service later in the month also to be held in N.Y. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Phil's name to two charities that were very close to his heart: The DreamYard Project and The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. The family wishes to thank everyone for their continued support and good wishes,” according to USA Today .

Several reports came out saying that Hoffman died of a drug overdose, which was proposed after police found him with a needle in his arm, several bags of heroin, which were empty, and more than 50 bags of unopened heroin laying around.

Hoffman has three children; daughters Tallulah and Willa, and son Cooper. He was 46 years old, and had dealt with his addiction publicly.
