Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher, Mat Latos, is feeling great after undergoing knee surgery for a torn meniscus on Friday. By Saturday he was able to walk without crutches and was not in much pain.

Latos injured his knee earlier this week in Arizona while throwing during spring training. He slipped and while his foot stayed firmly planted his knee kept twisting until something popped. According to mlb.com Latos said, “Everything feels good. I'm doing stability exercises. I'm able to balance on that leg. I'm walking. It's unfortunate what happened. It was a freak thing…”

As it was minor surgery the team and Latos are not overly concerned. The right-hander is expected to start throwing again in about ten days. In his 32 starts last season Latos went 14-7 with a 3.16 ERA.

This isn’t the first time pitching injuries have plagued the team’s spring training. According to foxsports bullpen pitchers have suffered injuries the past two years, and this year the starting rotation is impacted by injury issues.
