A rep for the Church of Scientology has responded to Leah Remini’s revealing new interview about why she left the church. She admitted although there were “dozens” of reasons including its controlling nature, the main reason she quit was for her 9-year-old daughter Sofia.
The rep called accused the former King of Queens star, 43, of having an “insatiable craving for attention.”
"It comes as no surprise that someone as self-absorbed as Leah Remini with an insatiable craving for attention would exploit her former faith as a publicity stunt by rewriting her history with it, including omitting that she was participating in a program to remain a Scientologist by her own choice, as she was on the verge of being expelled for her ethical lapses,” the Scientology rep told Us Weekly.
As we previously reported, Remini admitted in a revealing interview with BuzzFeed that she was spending too much time at the church and none with her daughter at home. She didn’t like the “example” that was showing Sofia.
When she quit last summer, she said Sofia “was getting to the age where the acclimation into the Church would have to start” and she had to make a decision.
