In a story that has dragged on for months, the report for the Miami Dolphins bullying scandal involving Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin has finally been released.
Boston.com noted that the report backs Martin’s claims of being abused by fellow offensive lineman Richie Incognito.
Other Dolphin teammates who were named in the report were linemen Mike Pouncey and John Jerry. The report found that they too engaged in harassing Martin.
ESPN sited that the report, done by investigator Ted Wells, goes on to say that Martin was not the only one taunted. The trio also allegedly targeted another offensive lineman and a Japan-born assistant trainer.
The 144-page report mentions that the harassment included racial slurs, sexual taunts and homophobic name-calling.
The NFL released a statement on the report findings.
Our office has received the report of independent counsel Ted Wells, which sets forth the findings of his investigation into the workplace environment at the Miami Dolphins. Consistent with our commitment at the outset of this matter, the full report has been transmitted to our clubs and has been made public. We appreciate the work of Ted Wells and his colleagues and the cooperation of the Miami Dolphins organization in the investigation. After we have had an opportunity to review the report, we will have further comment as appropriate.
Head coach Joe Philbin was apparently unaware of the harassment going on in the club, but shame on those who were aware and turned a blind eye to the situation.
