Actor Ryan Phillippe is currently in final negotiations to star in the pilot for new ABC seres Secrets & Lies.
According to TheWrap, the drama series is based upon an Australian series that hasn't even aired yet, which stars Martin Henderson.
The pilot will be directed by Charles McDougall and Australian company Hoodlum, Kapital Entertainment, Nathan Mayfrield and Tracey Robertson will executive produce the show.
Secrets & Lies is set to be a 10-episode series if the pilot gets picked up. Deadline notes that the show does have a series penalty attached, so ABC will be more inclined to pick it up.
The show follows Phillippe's main character who suddenly finds himself the prime suspect in a murder investigation of a young child. In an attempt to keep sane, restore his reputation and keep his family together, he sets forth on his own investigation to find the actual killer.
Though Phillippe primarily stars in movies, such as The Lincoln Lawyer and Crash, he recently had a recurring role on Damages for a season.
