Sandra Bullock struck it big by starring in Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity as she will reportedly make at least $70 million from the Oscar-nominated film.
Studio sources say that after all revenue streams for the film are tallied, Bullock will have earned no less than $70 million and could possibly come away with more, according to The Hollywood Reporter, who first reported the story.
She signed on to the project for $20 million upfront, plus 15 percent of the film's box office earnings after it made enough for her initial payout. The film has made over $700 million already worldwide and could possibly reach $750 million. Warner Bros. likely will make 45 percent of those earnings after the numbers are split between the studio and movie theaters.
So that would put Bullock at $50 million before rentals and TV revenue gets thrown on top. A veteran finance lawyer said, "the theatrical window is going to generate a third of the total revenue a movie will earn; it will get another third on DVD; and then the final third comes from pay and free TV."
Her Gravity deal was so large because of her role in The Blind Side, which won her a Best Actress Academy Award and gave her some increased clout, reports The Guardian.
Bullock is also nominated for Best Actress in this weekend's Academy Awards and Gravity was nominated for nine other awards.
