The Seattle Seahawks have become famous for having “the 12th man”, their loyal fan base that creates the loudest stadium in the NFL and one of the hardest places to play any professional sports. On Wednesday, a parade and ceremony was held for these crazy, passionate fans in order to celebrate the first Super Bowl title in franchise history.
ESPN reports that the parade began near the Space Needle and made its way down to CenturyLink Field. A ceremony was held inside the stadium, where the team said thank you to their fans, which saw an estimated crowd of over 700,000 to celebrate their victory. The players were introduced in numerical order, except quarterback #3 Russell Wilson who was the last one to come out, holding the Lombardi Trophy.
Coach Pete Carroll led the frenzied crowd in a “Seattle Seahawks” chant and went on to talk about how this team is just getting warmed up and Russell Wilson added that their goal was to win another championship for Seattle next year.
The massive crowd turnout for the celebration included a large number of people who were absent from school. The Seattle Times statistics reveal that 565 teachers and over 13,000 students in the district were absent from school to attend the celebration. People were lining up on the street hours before the parade began, just to get a good view to see the new Super Bowl champs celebrate with their hometown.
This was the first Super Bowl title for the Seahawks in franchise history and from the look of things, it seems like the Seahawks are ready to head back to the Super Bowl next year.
