Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato changed up the scene the young Hollywood scene Thursday night. At the unite4: good and Variety’s unite 4: humanity gala in Los Angeles, Gomez was awarded the Young Visionary Award for her efforts with UNICEF, and Lovato was presented with the Young Luminary Award.

Honored for promoting positivity and motivating acts of kindness and charitable work through the children’s charity, UNICEF, Gomez became choked up when she thanked Lovato in her acceptance speech reported E! News.

"I'm thankful for you. You inspire me everyday. I hope together we can inspire people to focus on what's really important," said Gomez of her long-time friend.

In addition to performing “Skyscraper” and “Warrior” at the event, Lovato was presented with her award by Eva Longoria.

Lovato told the crowd of her humanitarian trip to Africa on her 21st birthday in order to celebrate differently that other people due to the personal issues she was dealing with at the time.

Also awarded at the ceremony were Alicia Keys for her charitable contributions and former President Bill Clinton with the Unity Recognition Award according to Yahoo! News.

Forest Whitaker, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Jada Pinkett Smith, and Wilmer Valderrama attended and handed out awards.
