NBC won the ratings in primetime on Monday night and saw strong ratings from both Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show as it starts its second week and the premiere of Seth Meyers' Late Night.
Late Night debuted to the highest ratings for the talk show on a Monday night in nearly a decade, reports TheWrap. Meyers first night as host averaged 3.4 million viewers, a 1.4 in the 18-49 demographic and a 2.6 in metered-market households.
The numbers were the highest for a Monday night in nine years and easily beat out Fallon's 2.3 rating when he premiered five years ago. Meyers was likely helped by his guests, former Weekend Update co-anchor Amy Poehler and Vice President Joe Biden.
Fallon's first episode without the Sochi Olympics as a lead-in was also good, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Among metered-households, the Tonight Show managed to average a 4.5 rating.
That number is the best ratings for the Tonight Show at a regular time and without the Olympics since Jay Leno returned to the seat four years ago. It is also higher than Conan O'Brien's 3.1 rating he managed in his second week as host.
