Donal Logue, who appeared on Sons of Anarchy, is the latest actor to join Gotham, Fox’s highly anticipated Batman prequel series. Logue will play Detective James Gordon’s partner, Harvey Bullock.

The character is a brutal police detective, who happens to get results using questionable means, notes Deadline. Logue had been expected to take the role, which will come after performances in FX’s Sons of Anarchy and BBC America’s Copper.

Earlier this week, Gotham’s supporting players were cast, with Robin Lord Taylor set to play the first villain, Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin. Sean Pertwee will play Alfred Pennyworth. Zabryna Guevara was cast as Gordon’s boss, GCPD Homicide Squad Captain Essen.

The lead role in the series, Gordon, will be played by Southland vet Ben McKenzie. Erin Richards will play Gordon’s fiancee.

Gotham is set before Batman arrives are will cover Gordon’s rise to Gotham City Commissioner and the origins of Batman’s greatest villains. Fox has put in a series commitment and The Mentalist’s Bruno Heller is writing the pilot and will executive produce the series.
