The St. Louis Cardinals organization is embarrassed after porn images on pitcher Carlos Martinez’s Twitter account surfaced.

According to the St. Louis Post–Dispatch, the right-hander’s "favorite" tweets on the micro-blogging site, contained dozens of pornographic photos. On Monday, a link to the page went viral.

Not only was Martinez embarrassed by the incident, but so were the Cardinals and manager Mike Matheny.

ESPN noted that Matheny spoke with the 22-year-old, who was "confused on what exactly happened" but "acknowledges, however, it did happen."

"We are, like it or not, role models,” the skipper said. “Regardless of your moral compass and where it points, those sorts of things that we're talking about are not things we want our kids seeing."

The lesson to be learned here is to be mindful of what you do on social media.

Matheny has tried to instill that notion in his players on a regular basis. Perhaps, this time it will not fall on deaf ears.
