Despite the early lopsided score, Super Bowl XLVIII still set a new record for viewers, as did Bruno Mars' halftime show.
The Nielsen company released the ratings for Sunday's football game and the Seattle Seahawks drubbing of the Denver Broncos managed to score 111.5 million viewers, reports The Wall Street Journal. The new record beats out the one previously set by the 2012 championship game between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants.
The 111.5 million viewers also means that for four out of the past five years, the Super Bowl has managed to draw a record number of people. Fox noted that about 2.3 million people watched the game through the official online stream.
According to Deadline, the record was beat, but just barely as the previous record was 111.34 million.
Bruno Mars also had an excellent night as his performance with his band, The Hooligans, and the addition of the Red Hot Chili Peppers managed to set a new record of 115.3 million viewers. That number easily trumps last year's performance by Beyonce, which drew 110.8 million.
The new number also beats out the previous mark of 114 million, which was set by Madonna two years ago.
