As we close in on the 86th annual Academy Awards, the nominees for Best Animated Feature are locked and loaded.
Since 2001, the Academy has given out this award to an outstanding feature film made for children, but loved by all. The most recent winner of this prestigious award was Disney/Pixar’s Brave.
Though more than half of the 12 winners are from the Disney team, all of the nominees exceed the expectations of what an animated film is meant to be. By adding a touching story, a collection of warm characters and a thrilling picture, these films eventually earn their spot as a classic.
This year, there are five nominees for the category. The Wind Rises, The Croods, Despicable Me 2, Ernest and Celestine, and Frozen will duke it out on March 2 to earn the title of Best Animated Film.
