The Oscars are coming up in just a few weeks and a while back it was announced
what the theme of the show would be. The producers have chosen to pick a very inspirational
theme and make the show revolve around movie heros. Heros can come in any shape or
form. They can either be the classic superheroes from well loved comic books or they can be
real life people who are heros to everyday people. No matter what one considers to be a
hero, the theme is definitely one that has caused question and excitement as to what heros
will be present at the Oscars.
In honor of the theme of the Academy Award show this year, this list will focus on the
classic superheroes from comic books and their costumes. With their powers, muscles and
thirst for justice, a superhero isn’t recognizable without their costume. To blend in with all of
the average people, superheroes have their normal identity such as Bruce Wayne or Clark
Kent. However, when crime ensues and the need for a superhero arises, the heroes strip
their “normal” persona and transform into the superhero that they are all thanks to their
costume. Here is a list of the top ten superhero costumes.

[new page=Catwoman]
10. The sleek and sexy cat woman never fails to impress in her skin tight outfits. Some may
say she is a villainess but she has always been in somewhat of a grey area when it comes to
doing the right thing and being a bad kitty, so in this case we label her as a good character.
Whether it is Michelle Pfeiffer rocking the skin tight black leather catsuit or whether it is the
the more modern and practical version that Anne Hathaway portrays in The Dark Knight
Rises
, Catwoman's costume never fails to turn some heads.

[new page=Fantastic Four]
9. In the 2005 film Fantastic Four, the team sported literally fantastic costumes. When
compared to the lame 1994 film version of the popular comic series, the costumes definitely
received an upgrade. All of the actors looked sleek and fit in matching dark blue bodysuits
with black accents. Eons better than the tacky bright blue and white costumes from the
original film. It is hard to forget the way Chris Evans or Jessica Alba looked in their crime
fighting suits.

[new page=Spider-Man]
8. Yet another Marvel hero who wears a well-fitting body suit, Spider-Man is one of the top
contenders for best costume. Beginning in the 2002 film, the hero's blue and red body suit
has enticed viewers all over the world. After being bitten by a "super spider" geeky Peter
Parker transforms into a web slinging, wall climbing crime fighter. His costume enhances his
physic and the black accents of web design over his costume makes it even more awesome.
Another plus to the costume is that is is super practical for Spider-Man himself, and doesn't
get in the way as he fights the bad guys.

[new page=Xmen]
7. After six films, X-Men has become of the highest grossing film franchises, so it is no doubt that the costume designers could certainly afford some impressive costumes. The group is known for wearing sleek black costumes a little similar to black, leather biker outfits. Of course many love Mystique’s almost naked like appearance even with her vibrant blue lizard skin and piercing yellow eyes. Fans will be excited to see how Jennifer Lawrence looks as well in the upcoming X-Men:Days of Future Past film.

[new page=Iron Man]
6. In 2008, actor Robert Downey, Jr, portrayed the famous Marvel superhero, Iron Man the film, Iron Man. The Iron Man suit comes about when, Tony Stark, weapon manufacturer, is injured in Afghanistan during the war by one of his own missiles. During it all he and other captive Yinsen build a robotic suit that is powered by an electromagnet. The suit itself is what makes Iron Man aka. Tony Stark so powerful. The suit is intimidating with dark gold and red and slit like eyes and the sounds it makes shows how very much robotic it is. Overall, the Iron Man costume is one of the more impressive looking costumes that a hero wears in any film.

[new page=Man of Steel]
5. The most recent take on the Superman story, Man of Steel portrayed the character of Superman in a whole new way. Forget the bright blue suit and tight red briefs, Henry Cavill doned a whole new suit as the new Superman. His suit featured surprisingly no red briefs and the blue of the suit was a much darker shade of blue. This more modern and edgy take on the Superman costume gave it a more manly and intimidating feel which I think suited today’s generation of superhero lovers.

[new page=Captain America: The First Avenger]
4. In the 2011 Marvel film, Captain America: The First Avenger, Chris Evans portrays the tiny Steve Rogers turned superhero Captain America. Taking place in the 1940s during war time, the whole movie is patriotic propaganda. Captain America’s costume in the film is patriotic and awesome. The red, white and blue army suit allows for the hero to move around effortlessly and the helmet that goes down around the eyes is a perfect mix of superhero and military. The best part of the costume is the insanely impenetrable shield in which Captain America wields. The circular red, white and blue shield with the star in the middle is the iconic symbol of the hero himself.

[new page=Thor]
3. Yet another 2011 Marvel film, Thor was a great representation of the comic book hero by the same name, Thor. Not only was Chris Hemsworth physically the perfect fit to play the role of Thor but his costume was quite impressive as well. As the next inline for taking over the throne of Asgard, Thor’s costume had the knight in shining armor (medieval) feel but it also had a futuristic space feel as well. With a metal plated torso and a regal red cape to go with it, the costume is a perfect mix of two worlds and portrays Thor as what he really is, a royal superhero.

[new page=Wonder Woman]
2. The famous Wonder Woman is one of the most inspiring female icons of the past century. Not only is she a warrior Amazonian princess, but she has one of the most recognizable costumes of any superhero. Wonder Woman (also known as Diana Prince) wears a patriotic costume that features a sexy one piece unitard with the iconic blue and white stars and the golden eagle across the bust. With her golden lasso and headpiece, Wonder Woman is always popular for both men and women to idolize.

[new page=Batman in ‘The Dark Knight’]
1. In Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, the story lines and actors weren’t the only mind blowingly amazing aspects of the films. Batman’s costume is by far one of the best Batman suits of all time. The matte black, rippling muscle looking suit perfectly portrays the strength and mystery of Batman. Instead of a bright yellow utility belt, Christian Bale’s belt is a subdued golden tone making it a lot less cartoonish. Although any Batman suit would be better than George Clooney’s Batman suit with the apparent nipples, the suit from The Dark Knight Trilogy is the perfect representation of Batman.
