Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. has been around and making their famous doughnuts since July 13, 1937. The founder, Vernon Rudolph, started the company with a secret yeast-raised recipe, which he bought from a New Orleans chef. He started off by selling the doughnuts by delivery on his bicycle, but since then, the company has grown significantly. These well-known doughnuts can be bought in Krispy Kreme stores, as well as local grocery stores and convenience stores. Wal-Mart and Target are known for selling the tasty treats in the United States, as well.
The original factory, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is open and available for anyone to tour. The smell of the fresh doughnuts fills the air around the factory and it’s hard not to want to walk inside to see how these fresh treats are made.
The company began by selling only their famous hot Original Glazed doughnuts, which have not changed at all since day one. By 1945, eight different flavors were available in the store, including jelly filled and powdered. Now, almost 70 years later, they have about 24 different doughnut flavors, as well as mini doughnuts, fritters, twists, doughnut holes and crullers. The shops even started selling their own coffee, bagels and oatmeals once they became more popular.
While everything they sell is always fresh and amazing, they are known for their doughnuts, especially the Original Glaze. The store even introduced a Hot Doughnuts Now light in 1992 so customers passing by know that when the light is on, the Original Glaze doughnut is hot, fresh and ready to be served. With so many unique flavors to choose from, we have narrowed it down to 10. So, here are what we believe are the Top 10 Krispy Kreme Doughnut flavors…
