Nashville gives us more than just a dramatic television series. It gives us great music, and a lot of that has made its way into the homes and hearts of the viewers. The soundtracks from Nashville have become wildly popular with songs from all of the cast members in one way or another. Nashville has three main female characters: Rayna, Juliette, and Scarlett – all extremely diverse.

The show stars Rayna James (Connie Britton), an older but not yet retired, country icon. She has devoted fans and a long time successful career, but ultimately strives to develop her own label and get away from the top dogs that run her agenda. Rayna has two talented young daughters, Maddie and Daphne Conrad (Lennon and Maisy Stella). They have not yet been tainted by the industry and are one of the most talented duos on the show (and real life).

Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) has always been in the shadow of Rayna James. She was raised by her mother in a trailer park and has worked hard to be as successful as she is, but she is rough around the edges. Throughout the show, she faces many trials and tribulations from the press, and her fan base is continuously up and down.

Scarlett O’Connor is not as grounded in the industry yet, as Juliette and Rayna are. She is an up-and-coming country singer, with a soft yet powerful voice, and a talented song writer. Her career kick started with the help of her once lover, Gunnar Scott, and Rayna James when she added Scarlett as the first artist to her label, Highway 65. Scarlett brings a new sound to country, with her innocence guiding her career.

Nashville is comprised of several other talented and important characters, such as: Deacon Claybourne (Charles Esten), Teddy Conrad (Eric Close), Avery Barkley (Jonathan Jackson), Gunnar Scott (Sam Palladio), and Will Lexington (Chris Carmack). The show has produced enough songs for you to fall in love with at least one. Let’s countdown the top 10 greatest songs from Nashville thus far.

10. “This Town”

Deacon and Scarlett might be one of my favorite mashups, and this song is beautifully written. It is a bit darker, but it is perfect to describe what was going on at that moment of the season. Scarlett’s ex, Gunnar Scott, and her best friend, Zoey Dalton (Chaley Rose) end up together giving Scarlett the ultimate betrayal. Meanwhile, Rayna and her sister, Tandy Hampton, have to deal with their father being arrested and facing trial. Ultimately the song is reflecting on the fact that their “perfect” town is flawed.

9. “Love Like Mine”

This song is performed more than once through the series. We see Deacon sing it to his dog, Juliette perform it on stage, and Charles Wentworth sing it on a plane with Juliette, with the latter being my favorite. The song describes a breakup where the girl, in this case Juliette, is saying you will never find a love like mine. Later we see that her relationship with Charles Wentworth, a wealthy newlywed, gets her in trouble with the press and her fans.

Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere)

8. “Adios Old Friend”

We rarely get to see Gunnar Scott perform on his own, because the songs he writes are always handed off to bigger and better performers. But, nobody else would have been able to sing this song, “Adios Old Friend,” that he writes for his brother. He claims it was his biggest heart break, and we can see that Zoey has her eye on him.

7. Believing

I just can’t get enough of Lennon Stella (Maddie). Every song she does is tasteful and full of heart. “Believing” is no different, as we get to listen to Maddie and her father, Deacon, make heart warming music.

But, at the same time Juliette Barnes is dealing with the hatred from her fans. Avery offers her a shoulder to lean on, and he ends up being about the only one she has on her side.

6. “Trouble Is”

This is the perfect song to depict Juliette Barnes' character and personality. She is pretty much trouble wherever she goes. Juliette is constantly challenging everyone around her. She is demanding, and she always finds herself with the wrong men. When she sings “Trouble Is” in this scene she is facing major scrutiny from her fans after her affair with Charles Wentworth. While performing at Teddy Conrad’s charity benefit, her fans hold up a sign saying “home wrecker” and Avery does his best to get her through the number. This is when we really see the relationship between Juliette and Avery blossom.

5. “If I Didn’t Know Better”

From the beginning we have rooted for these two talented co-stars. Their careers started off because of their talent for song writing. But, when they began singing together it was chemistry that couldn’t be matched. We know now they are a long way from being together again, and Scarlett’s career has far succeeded that of Gunnar’s. But, this is still one of the best songs on the show to date.

4. “Consider Me”
Juliette Barnes’ career has been on the rocks since day one when she had to deal with being in the shadow of Rayna James. As the story unfolds, we see that Juliette longs to develop her image. She wants to attract a more mature audience and slowly step away from the teeny bop music. We see this a lot in the real world too.

But when her label doesn’t approve she has to take drastic measures, typical of Juliette Barnes. She decides on her own to perform a new and different song that she wrote with long time pal Deacon at one of her concerts. The result: a great song and an earful from her label.

3. “Be My Girl”
"Be My Girl" is the product of a collaboration between Gunnar Scott and Avery Barkley, a pair we did not necessarily consider getting together. They have always had a rocky relationship because of their shared interest in Scarlett O’Connor. But, boy are we glad they decided to make amends and produce such a great song. Unfortunately the show doesn’t give us the entire song, but what we do hear is bliss.

2. “Telescope”
"Telescope" is an original song by Juliette Barnes, and probably one of her most popular singles. It is even popular outside of the show on iTunes. Hayden Panettiere has proved her singing ability through Nashville, and even though her character isn’t the most lovable she has become a household favorite.

1. “A Life That’s Good”
This song is one that Deacon wrote back in his glory days and the Stellas sing the cover. For Maddie (Lennon), this song is even more meaningful since finding out Deacon is her biological father. In my opinion, the Stellas sing it better than Deacon ever could. The duo has a youthful sound, while still sounding so mature -- they are beautiful together!
