Before there was The Bachelor, there was The Dating Game, hosted by television personality Jim Lange. Though Lange passed away Tuesday, February 25, of a heart attack, his legacy lives on through the many Dating Game clips on the internet. The Dating Game had three romantic hopefuls competing for a date with one lucky bachelor or bachelorette, a simple precursor to the reality romance shows popular today.
The show saw a surprising number of celebrities looking for love, including Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. It also featured one of the world's most notorious serial killers, Rodney Alcala, before he was convicted.
Jim Lange hosted the show for many years, beginning at its premiere in 1965, before passing the baton to Elaine Joyce. The Dating Game and its many spinoffs and revivals aired on ABC for over 30 years.
In honor of Jim Lange, we present the top 10 moments from The Dating Game.
