American Idol remained steady in the ratings for Wednesday night, but was nearly unseated by the premiere of the latest season of Survivor, while the premiere of ABC's new show Mixology wasn't great.

For the night, Fox took the win by a hair with a 2.6 in the important 18-49 demographic and averaged 10.64 million viewers. HitFix reports the numbers are steady for the latest episode of Idol, though it had much tougher competition last week against the Sochi Olympics.

CBS was buoyed by the return of Survivor and averaged a 2.5 in the demo and 9.69 million viewers. Survivor averaged a 2.5 in the demo, steady between its two hours. Then Criminal Minds took in a 2.3 demo rating to close out the night for the network.

ABC took third with a middling 1.8 in the 18-49 demo and 6.8 million viewers, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Modern Family was down for the night with a 3.1 rating and new show Mixology premiered to a weak 1.8 in the demo. The Middle and Suburgatory both fell for the night, with a 1.8 and 1.5 in the demo, respectively. Nashville tied its series low with a 1.2 in the demo.

NBC tied with ABC in the demo, but only averaged 5.94 million viewers. Revolution stayed steady with its last new episode at a 1.3 demo rating. Law & Order was actually up slightly to a 2.0 rating and Chicago P.D. also grew to a 2.2 in the demo.

Arrow was down slightly for the CW with a 0.9 rating and The Tomorrow People held at a 0.5. For the evening, the CW averaged 1.98 million viewers and a 0.7 in the demo.
