Thursday night American Idol mostly held its ground against the Sochi Winter Olympics, which slightly declined from the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games.

NBC saw a slight decline from its coverage of the Winter Olympics in the ratings, down to a 5.9 in the advertiser important 18-49 demographic and 22.9 million viewers, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The dips from 2010 are only slight, with the demo being down 17 percent and viewership to 9 percent.

Fox continues to schedule some original programming against the Winter Olympics and Thursday was another night of American Idol, which was only down slightly from the previous week to a 2.9 in the demo. For the night, Fox averaged a 2.0 in the demo and 6.95 million viewers. Other new show of the night Rake stabilized from its continual drops to remain at a 1.1 demo rating.

CBS came third on a night of all encores, but a decent demo rating of 1.6 and 7.02 million viewers, reports HitFix. The Big Bang Theory repeat was right on the tail of Idol during its timeslot, with a 2.8 in demo.

ABC aired a new episode of The Taste and the rest encores and managed only a 0.8 in the 18-49 demo and 2.78 million viewers. The cooking competition was anything but as it only managed a 0.8 in the demo, barely beating an encore of a CW show, and tying for a series low.

The CW got a 0.3 in the demo and 1.055 million for the night off the back of all repeats of Arrow and The Originals.
