The Sochi Winter Olympics slowed its continual under-performance in comparison with the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and posted a good Monday night, while the CW's Star-Crossed premiered to weak numbers.
The Olympics managed to post a 5.6 rating in the important 18-49 demographic, which is a 4 percent increase for the comparable day at the Vancouver Games, according to The Hollywood Reporter. For the night, NBC also averaged 23.5 million viewers, which is an 11 percent rise from 2010.
ABC took second place for the evening with 7.7 million viewers and a 2.0 in the demo. The Bachelor continued its slide against the Olympics with a 2.2 in the demo. A new episode of Castle also slipped slightly to a 1.7 demo rating.
Fox also aired new episodes and managed a 1.7 in the demo and 5.21 million viewers, reports HitFix. Almost Human remained steady against the Olympic Games with a 1.6 in the demo, as did The Following which averaged a 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demo.
CBS continued to air repeats, averaging only a 1.2 in the demo and 5.31 million viewers.
The CW debuted Star-Crossed, which started its first season off with a weak 0.4 in the rating, though it was still better than Beauty and the Beast's 0.3 rating.
