The Sochi Winter Olympics saw a small uptick in the ratings for Wednesday night, while original programming struggled, with Super Fun Night exiting to new low.
For the night NBC and the Olympic Games averaged a 5.0 in the important 18-49 demographic and 20.1 million viewers, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The numbers are a small rise from Tuesday, but coverage still struggles when compared to the 2010 Vancouver Games.
Fox followed in a distant second with a 2.6 in the demo and 9.9 million viewers off the back of a new episode of American Idol. The numbers are a slight drop from the previous week in the advertiser important demo.
CBS also aired some new episodes for the evening, reports HitFix. The network averaged a 1.8 demo rating and 8.36 million viewers. A Hawaii Five-0 repeat started the night off, then followed the return of Criminal Minds, which averaged a 2.4 in the 18-49 demo, which is a slight drop. CSI remained steady in its return with a 2.0 rating.
ABC followed in fourth with a 0.8 in the demo and 2.94 million viewers. Encores of The Middle and Suburgatory started the evening and a Nashville repeat ended it. Sandwiched in between was the Super Fun Night finale, which went out with a whimper with a 0.9 rating - a series low.
The CW aired only repeats of Arrow and Tomorrow People and the network averaged a 0.3 demo rating and 888,000 viewers.
