Against a Thursday night of mostly new episodes, NBC was able to come out on top for once thanks to the start of the Winter Olympics.
With a 5.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 19.56 million viewers, NBC easily took the night, reports HitFix. Ratings started at a 5.6 in the demo for the Olympics and rose to a strong 6.3 before dropping back down to a 5.6 in the last hour of coverage.
Even against the Olympics, The Big Bang Theory was still strong, posting a 5.0 in the demo, which helped CBS to an easy second place. CBS pulled in a 2.5 rating and 10.41 million viewers. The Millers ticked up on the night to a 2.7 in the demo, but Two and a Half Men slipped to a 1.8. The Crazy Ones also dipped to a 1.7 in the rating, and Elementary also dropped to a 1.8 in the demo.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox was right behind CBS with a 2.1 demo rating and 7.6 million viewers. American Idol didn't drop from last Thursday, remaining even with a 3.0 in the demo, while Rake continued its slide towards cancellation with a 1.1 in the 18-49 demo.
ABC only aired The Taste and managed a low 1.0 in the demo and 3.2 million viewers for the night, barely beating the CW's 0.8 rating and 1.9 million viewers. The Vampire Diaries slipped to a 0.9 rating, while Reign retained last week's audience with a 0.6 in the demo.
