With all the excitement that has surrounded the U.S. men’s hockey team, many have forgotten how good the women’s team is and now they will be playing for gold on Thursday.

The Associated Press reported that the U.S. crushed Sweden 6-1 on Monday to reach the gold medal game.

USA Today noted that if Canada beats Switzerland as expected, the Canadians will be Team USA’s opponent in the championship game.

If that matchup ends up happening, Canada will be going for its fourth straight Olympic medal. Leaving the U.S. team, that was left with the Silver medal in Vancouver, as their only roadblock.

Forward Hillary Knight told CBS News that the team remembers what it felt like losing to Canada four years ago.

"It wasn't a great feeling and it's still a feeling that haunts a bunch of us today and it's definitely in the back of our minds that we don't want to feel that way again," she said.

The U.S. team will have a chance to dethrone Team Canada if the two rivals meet again.
